Located a mile outside of Glen Ellen, the Jack London State Historic Park is a remarkable place to visit if you want a sample of American history. This state park is not only home to the grave of the world-renown writer Jack London, author of the famous The Call of The Wild, and White Fang, but also to the ruins of his original home, Wolf House. Jack London himself built Wolf House in 1913, but shortly before it was completed, the house burned down. The Jack London State Historic Park is also home to the Jack London museum, built by London’s wife after his death in 1916, and is filled with mementos saved from the original house.

If you are the outdoorsy type, then you’ll want to be sure to check out Glen Alpine Springs when considering Glen Ellen. Located just a few miles from Camp Richardson, this outdoor venue consists of a two-mile round-trip hike that leads to the historic and beautiful Soda Water Spring, which was discovered in 1893. One of the earliest resorts built in the area, Glen Alpine Springs boasts a beautiful landscape consisting of waterfalls, wildflowers, streams, and Glen Alpine Canyon. Glen Alpine Springs is perfect for any nature lover, or for a family outing that combines a sense of history with a good physical activity.

If wine is your passion, then you should rejoice that you’re in Glen Ellen, because you will be close to one of the finest wineries in all of Sonoma Valley. The Benziger Family Winery is home to several award winning wines that are produced every year, and for over twenty years, this family-run vineyard has been producing wines that everyone loves. For a small fee you can not only visit the Benziger Family Winery, but you can also sample some of their famous reserve wines, and have a tour of the beautiful land that consists of a 45-minute ride through the vineyards, with frequent stops to look more closely at the grapes that make it all possible.

There are many little shops within Glen Ellen if you are interested in doing some shopping there. But there are also many different malls in the areas surrounding this little city. The Plaza North Shopping Center in Petaluma is near by, while there are also places like Montgomery Village Shopping in Santa Rosa that is within an easy driving distance.
